First Updates of 2010

by Lure on January 6, 2010

Happy New Year everyone!

First of all, I’d like to thank all of you for your patience over the last few weeks while I took some time off after the birth of my son. Second of all, I’d like to especially thank Charlie for checking in with me and helping me catch up after my little vacation! Thank you thank you thank you!

Big Sea Games has put up How to Play posts for the following games:

Thunderbolt 21
L.O.B.E.
SnowGlobe Slots
Unwell Mel

As always, these will be permanently linked from the Game Ranks and Awards pages as well.

Another small news item is that the Daily Poll — which broke with an update in December (or was it November?) and was only displaying your answer to the poll as opposed to a percentage chart of everyone’s answers — has been moved from the front page of the site to the Big Sea Games Facebook page. At the time of this post, a recent Facebook update from Big Sea Games states “We have moved our Poll of the Day to our Facebook page for the time being! Check back each weekday for a new poll!” but there have been no polls posted (yet).

And on a related note, Big Sea Games has been publishing the new game from Big Fish Games on a daily basis to their Facebook page. I understand that it’s “content” and it’s “related”, but isn’t that something that should be reserved for the Big Fish Games Facebook page only? My point of view is that I’m already a fan of both pages; should I un-fan (unfollow? unsubscribe from?) Big Fish Games since I’m now getting duplicate information (not to mention that I’m already getting the daily game splash in my email)? Are there any Facebook users/fans out there who have an opinion on this?

And don’t forget to become a fan of the Big Sea Fans Facebook page, it’ll automatically let you know when something new is posted here.

There’s also been an update to our broken friends lists:

We have restored functionality to the friend’s list. If you have over 20 friends, you should see them now. The issue with certain browsers pushing friend’s off the edge of the screen still persists however and will be resolved at a later date.
Thanks
Draddog

For what it’s worth, the latest version of Firefox is one of those “certain browsers”.

Did I miss anything newsworthy? Have you seen any news around the Big Sea Games site in the past few weeks that you’d like to share with everyone? Feel free to leave a comment below discussing updates or changes you’ve experienced. Thanks!

The latest version of internet explorer (in conjunction with windows 7) is another of the browsers which doesnt show all the friends list – an odd few drop off the bootm of the page

Well, looks like it may be ALL browsers… Chrome is the same way – odd man out drops off the bottom. Have to click on the top of the pic to see who it is. I will have to check Opera to see if that too is affected.

IMHO, BFG/BSG is posting everything to both Facebook pages because they have lost a lot of players to the games there. Yeah – I am one of them. lol I dont mind seeing the same info three times (email included) as I rarely check the Facebook pages anyway. They are just covering all their bases to get the word out that they are still in business after they crammed a lousy new Community down our throats! lol

And Lure, so glad you are doing well! All rested up for the new year I guess! :)

Yep – it is all browsers I have anyway. Opera 9.64 (and probably 10) also has the odd man at the bottom cut off at the top.
I wonder which browser is not considered a certain browser?! lol

I had a new issue in the last several weeks, and wondered if anyone else has the same issure. I had (finally) worked myself up the Einstein 1 in the LOBE game. Then just before Christmas, I was shown at the Genius 1 level. I sent an email to the site (which promised 72 hour response time). Finally got an email back yesterday which stated that they knew they had that problem and that they were “working on it”. Needless to say, I have not been bumped back up, and they did not promise to do so. Just wondering how widespread the problem is. It’s kind of a “bummer” after working so hard to get up there!

By the way, Congratulations, Lure!!!

just to ask his this game site still alive ???? loll
Since i know they will put nothing new on the site in december sooo i just stop going on it to play just getting tired of the same games and waiting for them to put something new on it. So if they put new stuff give me a shout lol and maybe i will go back.

And i wish you at the same time a happy new year 2010.

Hi Tina! The site’s still alive, but there hasn’t been anything new in a while. You know I’ll post when there’s something new, so anyone who hasn’t visited there in a while will be alerted. Are you playing games anywhere else these days? I’m always looking for more sites to enjoy.

Congratulations, Lure!!!

Can anyone invite me to join Big Sea…I can only access by invitation only.

PLEASE!! :0)

9 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) January 15, 2010 at 10:09 am

Hi Lisa, thanks! There’s no way for anyone except Big Sea to invite you to play right now. They’ve put everyone who signed up on a waiting list and will invite from the waiting list when they’ve gotten the site more stable.

To tell you the truth, you’re not missing much right now. By the time you’re invited, you’ll have spared yourself the frustrations that people have expressed across this site already, such as lost tokens and ranks, crashing games, random downtime, et cetera.

Thanks for the update Lura…..XOXOXOXOXOXO…see you in Pogo land!

I have been having dificulties with the site. I can not get any of the games to load. I have been playing Team Bingo for several years and this is the first time I have ever had any problems.

13 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) January 17, 2010 at 12:06 pm

It probably goes without saying, but if you’re having technical problems (like your games won’t load) you need to contact Big Sea Games customer support. :)

Hi!
Congrats Lure, so nice to have a baby in the house. I also had a problem getting a game to load. I wait until the loading sign stops then hit F5 it then loads for me. I hope this helps someone.

i think this is my name on this site… congrats on the kid lure! Whats its name?. Also, is there any news on possibly using tokens to buy games???? I hope these rumors are true…

16 jackdragon01 January 24, 2010 at 7:41 am

congrats Lure – boys are great lol i have 4 sons

i been playing on faunasphere a lot lately waiting for bigsea to sort itself out – still no jackpot spin in mahjong.

17 robero January 25, 2010 at 4:40 pm

It has gotten to the point where one cannot even get on the waiting list anymore at BigSea. I recommended the site to a friend and the response was they are not even taking names anymore.

18 deenie921 January 28, 2010 at 7:12 pm

hi lure many players in different game rooms feel big sea is going to end soon since theres been nothing new and no new people allowed in since site changed could this be true??? cant find any free sites except pogo and thats not for me any good free sites to try?? would love to know where so many players who usedto play here are playing now

19 charlie January 29, 2010 at 5:57 am

unfortunately the longer we wait for any definite news the more people are going to leave and the more likelihood that the site will die – they list their priorities but nothing seems to be happening (apart from people getting muted for complaining or banned for using the faults that work in the players favour)

last time i was there playtopia.com was free BUT the UK equivalent playandwin.co.uk was totally free but is now a paysite for most games, only a few free ones left. I would guess playtopia will go the same way if it hasn’t already

20 koalabear241 January 29, 2010 at 9:23 am

I still enjoying playing the different games on the site but i do not play as long as i used to. I have been playing more at gamesville.com. they have some unique free games that i enjoy playing as well. Though i do hope they breath some new life into the bigseagames soon.

I can’t find any other place to post this, but Big Sea Games has added riddles to Riddle-O-Day that are not on the list. Would it be possible to create a form where the list currently is for us to send the new ones as we get them to make the list more current?? This would help a lot! Thank you!

ravyn77: if you find riddles that aren’t on the list for the current month you can always use the Contact link at the bottom of any page to send in a Riddle. People have also just left a comment anywhere on the site that they could and I’ve updated the riddle list from there.

The puzzles for February were re-released today, so that might be why you didn’t find the answer riddle you were looking for? Here’s a quick link to the master archive of puzzles with a link to the current month:
