SnowGlobe Released

by Lure on October 7, 2009

SnowGlobe SlotsSnowGlobe Slots has been released. As you play, don’t forget you can keep tabs on the ranks and awards for Snowglobe Slots at our site.

Do you like the updated graphics? Are the payouts too low? How long do you think it’ll take most players to earn all of the awards?

Feel free to leave your comments on the game in a comment below.

My initial comments: you might want to wait a few hours to try this one. The awards don’t seem to be working. Beside the fact the graphics aren’t loaded yet, any progress you make towards earning a badge isn’t actually being applied properly. In addition, the gameplay screen only takes up a small portion of the game window.

And a problem that probably won’t be resolved: OH MY GAWD THE CHAT SPAM! Fruitcake here, team bonus there. Nobody’s gonna be able to chat in this one either. ;(

On to better news: the token payouts are not as bad as I’d expected. I’m pleasantly surprised at the amount of tokens I’ve won in just a short period of time. Hooray!

Supposedly, at least part of these are due to some deployment issue, and they’re working to fix it. I’m guessing all of those bugs will be fixed by this, including the odd size.

Re: the chat spam, I’ve got to agree. I’m pretty much okay with the other games – yes, some games are more “chatty” than others, but it doesn’t really bother me. This one, however, does – it seems that messages scroll off the screen every 2 seconds, and that’s too much in my opinion. I’m seriously considering turning them off, or playing in a near-empty room.

wow i’m ranking up so fast. the graphics look the same, so i’m thinking they uploaded the original game because it was promised today.

4 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 7, 2009 at 2:03 pm

They’ve (temporarily) removed the rooms so no new players can get in and they can fix some of the initial problems. If you’re playing and don’t want to stop, I suppose you shouldn’t leave the room — but also beware that any progress you make may not be permanent… stranger things have happened.

5 1bii October 7, 2009 at 2:10 pm

i’m still in a room. found the train and payout was only 20,000 i’m hoping that is the lower payout they’re talking about.

6 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 7, 2009 at 2:15 pm

I’d recommend you close the window and restart the game now. The rooms are back and the game fills the whole window now! In addition, the sound is defaulted to off, so be sure to turn it back on in the upper right if you want to play with sound.

1bii: you were right about the old game, but I think it was just a mistake and not intentional. The version that was originally put up (where the game didn’t fit into the screen properly) was definitely the old version and the token payouts were FANTASTIC! Now that the actual updated version is live, the token payouts are just okay. It’s still a fun game and some of the awards are a surprise to earn (random, chance stuff).

Does anyone know if there’s ever a jackpot spinner in this game? I see the paytable but not really anything about a “spin”. (I’ll admit I skipped the how to play part and just started playing.)

When I keep Big Sea open too long whether playing or not – I lose my sound on site and have to re-boot computer.
Played Snowglobe – no sound – left, rebooted and now the game site is a complete mess. Forums accessible, but the rest, OH MY!

Congrats on Big Sea Fans site Lure! Thanks again for all you do for Big Sea Fans :-)
(Although was having trouble getting in here also)

itsme07: it’s been a heck of a day for my web servers! I’m sorry the sites kept going down, but I think we’ve got the situation under control again. Phew!

9 Pidgeot October 7, 2009 at 3:18 pm

The game messages seem A LOT more manageable now – they aren’t nearly as frequent anymore.

Then again, the odds of actually winning seem a lot smaller than the old one they had up temporarily, so I guess that’s to be expected.

10 1bii October 7, 2009 at 3:24 pm

Tried to let you know i closed out window and opened a new game much earlier but couldn’t get the message to go through. LOL i had trouble with my puter last night so thought the site issues were part of that. Whew, everything back to normal. Re: cheap spins at bigsea… if i were at the local casino, i’d cash out rich by now. But yeah, not as good as this AM but the graphics are great.

11 1bii October 7, 2009 at 3:31 pm

i forgot to mention, we now have the option to use the snow angel (nice when fruitcake comes up on a low pay spin.)

Jackpot is paid when you get 5 jackpot symbols on an active payline (i think) don’t wanna read, must play LOL

12 andrew October 7, 2009 at 3:54 pm

i was playing snow globe on 10-7-09 and my rank gets to the p in partridge 1 and then it goes backwards. what do i do

13 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 7, 2009 at 3:58 pm

andrew: stop losing tokens? Just kidding. If you’re really not ranking up, try closing the game room and coming back in. if that doesn’t work, submit a ticket to Big Sea Games’s customer support.

Also, play the max bet — you have to bet more to win more! :)

14 itsme07 October 7, 2009 at 4:36 pm

SnowGlobe has to be one of the easiest, most relaxing ways to win tokens on the Big Sea site. I don’t think I ever played game on the old site-What Fun!
Lure, understand about server issues-for awhile I will keep the site window open! Again, Congrats!

15 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 7, 2009 at 4:51 pm

It looks like they’re already addressing the busybusybusy rooms (too bad the rooms will be mostly empty once the novelty wears off):

SnowGlobe Slots is now available to play. We have already added more rooms, and will watch to make sure that we have space for everyone. Happy Holidays and avoid the fruit cake! :)

16 itsme07 October 7, 2009 at 6:03 pm

The fruitcake is funny. I played long enough to finish game and win the Dreidel award and Red Train award – perhaps too long :-) never saw a jackpot spin chat acknowledgment. I’m guessing jackpots are hard to come by.
Love the crisp, clean graphics and sound effects.
Interesting how players flock to the new – wonder if the numbers will be the same tomorrow? Good news is Big Seas has figured out how to add rooms easily :-)

Have a Great Evening Lure. the chat spam is annoying

17 1bii October 7, 2009 at 6:23 pm

got the red train again, this time in the new improved game – worth 40,000 now instead of 20,000 earlier today.

18 jakepeavy444(uconnnumber1) October 7, 2009 at 8:34 pm

hey “lura”! ( i was on your other site… couldn’t you be lure there too?) Where do you traditionally play? i am trying to find you on snowglobe.

19 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 7, 2009 at 8:56 pm

jake: I usually just pick a full room near the top of the list for whatever game I happen to be playing. Almost all day today I was in Bah-Humbug, but I am done for today. :) When I play in Big Fish Slots, I’m usually in Persian Catfish.

Anyway, I normally go by Lura, but “Lure” was too fishy to pass up for Big Fish Games, so sorry! :P

20 Jakers October 7, 2009 at 9:47 pm

has anyone noticed when u dont win any tokens and u spin u lose rank?

21 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 7, 2009 at 9:57 pm

Jakers: yeah I noticed that too. (That’s why I told Andrew to stop losing tokens! Hehe.) I wonder if it was intended or not. Either way, the most you’re losing per spin is 135 and in my experience it’s pretty hard to lose tokens if you look at it from an overall-played standpoint.

22 EdC October 8, 2009 at 2:45 am

I should have known better to play this game with the sound on…or maybe I shouldn’t have played while I was relaxing on my comfy bed. Yes the soothing music put me to bed ;)
The game messages do whiz by but that will calm down as the easy awards are earned and people get to higher ranks.
Have fun everyone!

23 Debi (Debidawn) October 8, 2009 at 9:46 am

I was pretty busy yesterday so by the time I was ablew to get into the game it was stable and working great. I was pleased that the threatened token payouts were not bad as I feared. In fact I was pretty pleased with the amount of total tokens I was able to garner in my hours of play yesterday. I was able to get many of the awards as well, which was great! So I am very happy with the game. I will continue playing though the holidays I am sure.

24 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 8, 2009 at 9:49 am

I’m really pleased this game launched with no reallly MAJOR problems or bugs! There is, though, one known issue (ONE!):

There is currently one known problem with SnowGlobe Slots:
1. The second line of text for receiving the presents in the bonus round is being cut off. This is the text at the top of the screen in the bonus round that describes what kind of present you have received. This has no impact on game play.

This will be corrected in the near future.

25 koalabear241 October 8, 2009 at 10:41 am

I liked the fact that you win something more often then in the previous game. I used to spin several times and recieve no payout. This keeps the game interesting, at least from my point of view.

26 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 8, 2009 at 12:32 pm

Okay, I think I’ve figured out the mysterious “Jackpot” stuff…

There’s apparently no jackpot spin in SnowGlobe slots. There are, however, Jackpot trains that show up on the reels.

Assuming max bet:

2 trains = 200
3 trains = 1,125
4 trains = 3,500
5 trains = 13,333

However, if you get 5 trains straight across the center line, you get the Jackpot value, which is 10,000,000.

On another related topic: has anyone seen 5 wilds or 5 lights yet? I have 0 progress towards those two awards yet I’ve earned every other one (and been once around the lifecycle). Grr.

27 hoobagirl69 October 8, 2009 at 1:54 pm

I haven’t had any 5 wilds or 5 lights. I have almost all the other awards but not that one. I came close today and i got 4 lights! but yet again I have not got it. I’m almost through the whole lifecycle (halfway through grandpa) so idk when im going to get them

28 Amanda October 8, 2009 at 2:11 pm

I did receive 5 wilds last night. It is possible.

29 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 8, 2009 at 2:31 pm

Amanda: grats! I’m glad to know someone’s gotten them! I guess I wasn’t really questioning whether it was possible, but more trying to get a handle on the frequency. I’ve seen people get 5 lights in chat, so I know it’s somewhat frequent, but I can’t recall seeing a 5 wilds go by.

30 EdC October 8, 2009 at 7:50 pm

I’ve been through the game 3.5 times. 5 lights I have gotten once and the wild award is at 2 now.

31 robero October 9, 2009 at 7:36 pm

This game takes too much skill and thinking for me. Also, having to choose the right present and get the extra tokens is such an impossible task for me. Doubling or not is too tough a choice. Using the snow angel is a choice as difficult as choosing what to eat for dinner–impossible choice. Thus, the game being too complex for me, I cannot continue to make those difficult choices or face those complexities and thus cannot play the game any further.

32 katt October 9, 2009 at 10:39 pm

i have gotten the 5 lights the only ones im missing is the 3 fruit cakes and the 5 wild cards i love this game !!!

33 SweetFannyAdams October 12, 2009 at 1:27 pm

So someone win the jackpot today. No annoucement was made in chat but saw their rank go from French Hen to Maid and they received over 1,000,000 rank tokens. Everyone else received just under 8,500 tokens each!

34 cherokeewild38 October 12, 2009 at 1:44 pm

Just an observation, I’ve noticed that when my rank is full it doesn’t change over right away. It goes on for at least another 5000 tokens before changing rank. Aside from this bug I love the game and am waiting patiently for the 5 wilds.

35 EdC October 12, 2009 at 2:22 pm

Oh that’s great someone won the jackpot! I know the tokens are useless but still must have been fun to get it.
I just noticed today that the ranks are named after that song “The 12 days of Christmas”. How sad is it that I have been testing this game since March and just noticed it. :(

36 zelda63 October 20, 2009 at 1:22 pm

How many different levels are there within each rank? For example, how many French Hen levels do I have to go through before I move to the next rank?

37 Lure (bigfishgamer_com) October 20, 2009 at 1:36 pm

zelda63: Nine. It’s the same in every game. There’s information at the bottom of this page about sub-levels and how many tokens you need to advance:
