In response to many comments (and complaints) about asking for help and helping others with their riddles (from both sides of the fence), Big Sea Games is adding more rooms to Riddle O’Day. These “no answer” rooms will be devoid of people asking for help and answers — or at least they should be. Feasibly nothing is stopping you from asking for help or giving it in these rooms, except the room name. To that end, there may be some initial problems (check out the bold, my emphasis not theirs):
Yes, we will be adding rooms that are labled as “No Answer” or something similar. Players should not expect to receive help in these rooms. However, it is important to note that if you simply click “Play Now”, you may be put into one of these rooms without your knowledge. So if you are in one of these rooms intentionally and you see someone ask for help, please politely let them know that they are in a “No Answer” room and may want to try a different room for help.
The new rooms will be added soon.
(This is the same way the halls work in Team Bingo — you may be placed in either a League hall or a regular hall if you use the Play Now button there too. Just be aware!)
Of course, Big Sea’s solution is to tell people to “politely let them know that they are in a ‘No Answer’ room and may want to try a different room for help.” Our solution, for any room: tell people to Google their riddle. :) They’ll end up at our Riddle O’Day riddles page and everyone will be happy!

thats an ok idea i guess, but if we had whisper in chat then at least we could whisper the answer to them. and i dont give the answer but if its an anagram or jumbled, i unjumble it for them and let them work it out themselves – too many are quick to tell the answer and it isnt rocket science
Do people really complain about someone asking for help with a riddle and someone giving them the answer? Personally, I don’t see the big deal in this. I get help from here on my riddles but I am always quick to help someone else and also tell them about this site. I guess there is people out there who will find any little thing to nick pick about. I think we have more important things to complain about like the sticking jackpot spins and etc. Lets just have fun playing the many games available and quit nick picking on stuff like this. IMO Angel
SassyAngel41: the Riddle O’Day forum on the BSG site is FULL of that stuff. Actually, the whole forum is full of complaints and that’s why I try to scour it for the best information to give out to you guys, so you don’t have to wade through the hate and whining. There’s also a 7-page thread (and growing!) that’s continuing to this day about “cheating” in Riddle O’Day. I think a lot of the discussion there is whether or not asking for help or looking up the answers online is actually “cheating”. It’s interesting to me, but people really do get themselves all worked up over it.
I don’t play this game much but I’m glad bigsea is addressing these complaints, minor as it may seem. Now if they would add ‘no parking’ rooms to this game that may save their forum from additional clutter as well. ;)
The issue in this case wasn’t over cheating. It was an issue that people actually like to play to try to get the riddle. Since not everyone gets the same riddle, if you play in a room for about a week you will know about 70% of the answers before you even get the riddle next. It just takes the fun out of solving the riddle for some people. Those people also like to chat with their friends or others in the room, so turning off the chat, which many were advocating, isn’t a solution since you’d have to have chat off the entire time you play (and then can’t chat with your friends). I was glad to see that BSG was willing to make a room or two for this situation, so that truly everyone can have fun. Many people don’t find enjoyment in the riddle itself, so they just want the answer given to them, so they can go hunting for critters. Others, actually enjoy getting the riddle. Seems like a simple solution to make more folks happy, and I’m glad they are implementing it.
it would be great if there were actually new riddles to try to solve rather than reusing the same ones over and over and over again
The “no help” rooms have been added-4 of them. All brand new I guess judging from the names.
Lone Wolf has 2 players Solo Seekers has 2 players Independent Thinkers and Solitary Solvers are both empty right now. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this rather peculiar idea (in my opinion)
BigSea has come up with to placate some gamers.
Wonder how fast the players move out of the no answer rooms to get into others so as to “share” in the game play?
Happy Gaming!
Thanks again Lure for all you do!
itsme07: thanks for the update! These rooms are marked (No Help) in the title, but as I said in my post, you can still get randomly assigned to the room by using the “Play Now” button. Until they can exclude certain rooms from the Play Now pool (both here and in Team Bingo), there’s the potential for drama.
I agree Lure LOL
Have a Great One!
I’m closing out the comments on this one, feel free to pick the discussion back up at this thread:
