Heads up! The Big Sea Games site is going to be taken down for a maintenance period on August 26 at 9am PST. This one-hour maintenance period will serve to add three League halls to Team Bingo, hopefully alleviating the room overcrowding and tournaments will no longer be suspended. We will be taking Big Sea Games down tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 9 AM Pacific Time for one hour. We will be performing maintenance to improve overall stability for the site and games.We also will be adding three League halls to Team Bingo. These halls are for the use of Leagues primarily and will be clearly marked as League Halls. If you are not in playing in a League event, we ask that you limit yourself to the non-league rooms. We also ask that Leagues limit themselves to the League halls as well.

Update 8/26 5:30am PST: The Community/forums went down overnight and will remain down until after scheduled maintenance. In addition, users are reporting problems getting into game rooms even though the rooms appear full and the number of people in each room seems to change from time to time. Your game window may hang just like this (what I’ve dubbed the “terminal load screen”):
This may or may not be related to today’s maintenance, but rest assured that you’re not alone if you cannot load a game; it appears to be a known issue and at the very least it’ll be resolved after maintenance ends later today.
Update 8/26 7:20am PST: And the site’s down for maintenance. (Why early? Probably because of the problems listed in my last update.) No ETA yet on its return. “Big Sea Games Big Sea Games is down a bit early. The site maintenance we are conducting today should help to address these issues. Check back for updates.”
Update 8/26 10:20am PST: ” Big Sea Games The site maintenance continues on pace. The team got a late start due to last night’s outage, but we are still hoping to be back within the hour.”
Update 8/26 11:45am PST: The main site back up and the forums should be back online soon. I haven’t yet determined whether the Farm 52 problems have been fixed (even partly) because I wasn’t one of the ones with a problem in the first place. Keep us posted, please!

This is great news, but the way it sounds, we won’t be keeping the rooms we had since the beginning. But hey, Big Sea has stepped up to the plate and giving a solutions to the problem. Looking forward to hosting again!
we also just found out that if anyone playing any games are in the same room for 8 hrs they will automatically be booted out of that room. However, all you have to do is reload the room. what next – a timeclock?????

But for the bingo its really need to be fix up its always freezing….or i was in the game and i was seeing just my card but getting no number or sometimes its so fast we can just not keep up with it hope they will fix it good.
And for me maybe others too…in fairway solitaire my game just dont want to load i wait for minutes but getting no games so i have to try back till i get it and a lot of times maybe 3 to 4 times before getting my game…
Lure, do you have any info on how the league rooms are to be assigned yet?

It is 5:55 AM EDT – 2:55 AM Big Fish Time. Big Sea Games is not functioning-games won’t load and the Forums have a Sorry Maintenance sign up. According to the Big Sea Facebook site – the Forums went down 2 hours ago and won’t be back up until after the scheduled maintenance. The comments indicate others are having trouble getting into the games.

Seems like Bif Fish is down more than running I think it’s time to find new fames.
I caanot get into any of the games it gets so far and continually loads. have left for more tha 20 mins with still no change. i have tried not choosing a room but stil no luck. Any ideas?
aggiemom949: no clue. I wish I had more information from you guys, but since the switchover mostly all of my information comes from news and/or the forum and I haven’t been able to get any special information that the general public couldn’t find. :(
SiamaLee: oops, it’s scheduled for 9am PST. I think anything you (and others) experienced overnight was not related to this maintenance.
asset: I’d suggest you just wait it out a little longer, because you’re not alone (see itsme07′s comment above). And then there’s the issue with the forums being down… As of right now, as itsme07 said, the forums are down until after maintenance.
I have been getting the message “there is a game running, please close window and try again” There is no other game running, and I’ve cleared cache. Does anyone else have this problem? This is day three and I can’t get into ANY of the games.

if you click on the community page you will see that the site is currently undergoing maintenance – and has been for the last 6 hours or therabouts!
RG: Doesn’t it also ask you if you want to terminate the connection to the other game? It’s done that with me when I’ve had such a message appear, and all I had to do was click OK.
charlie: right. The “Community” (aka forums) has been down for a while, but it’s also on a separate server from the games part of the web site. And about 4 hours after the Community went down, people started reporting having problems getting into games, which is unrelated as far as I can tell to the maintenance which will start at 9am PST. So it’s a separate thing, but they’re not bringing the Community back until after maintenance so it’s slightly related. Mind-boggling, I know.
I have gotten that ‘There is a game running…’ message a few times where you have to click yes or no that RG mentioned, but the one that I have had TONS of in the last few days is when in the middle of a game (even if you are just ready to win) the game screen suddenly goes grey and you have to shut the window – losing whatever progress you were making in the game. I even lost an award I had just won that way once. I am starting to hate that screen. It’s happened in all the games at one time but almost always when I play the Suits Me games. I started counting them on Sunday. I had 14 of them that day alone! I sure hope this is one of the stability issues they are resolving today. It’s worth the down time now if it is! I too have been having a ton of trouble and trust this maintenance will cure all those ills. There should have been some warning posted in the last few days that this was taking place. BIG SEAS better get their act together as so many friends are leaving and going to POGO. Also if anyone can tell me why my friends list is incomplete and has people on there who were never my friends, I would like an answer. Contacting Big Seas does nothing, they don’t reply to my e-mails.
SueKap: realistically, this maintenance may not solve all of your problems. From what Big Sea Games has told us, it’s just to add the extra league rooms to Team Bingo and to improve stability in some of the games. But they could have more planned, and I’ve heard rumors they might be making some fixes to Farm 52 today too. I guess we’ll find out after maintenance.
Did you contact Big Sea Games through their contact us form on the Help section of their web site? If so, you are probably due to get an answer soon — just imagine all of the people who had problems writing in and clogging up their queue. It’s bound to take a few days for them to get back to everyone.
As far as your friends list goes, some users had more than one username associated with their account and during the transition they limited accounts to one username, so your friends list is still complete, just some of your friends may have different usernames than you are used to. Yes, Lure, they have made progress in the farm 52 loading situaiton. I was able to get in for the first itme last night, as did many of my friends. I’m not sure if I like it as much as I thought I would though. It’s more different than I had expected. I will have to get used to it.
Pidgeot – yes it asks to terminate game session, and I have tried both “yes” and “no” and still nothing happens, in the chat room it says that I have lost connection to the server. Am still awaiting answer from technical support.
you are right as usual lure – it was just the forums that were under maintenance – get that notice for the whole site now. I thought it was the whole site before as I first saw it round about the time i couldn’t get into any game

Guess it’s taking longer than an hour, eh?! I’ve not be able to get in since this morning at 0530 EDT, so I’m starting to go through withdrawals again after 8 hours of not playing…lol.
Lure Thank you very much for your time and patience helping us. I can only imagine how exasperating it must be to get all these complaints and not really be able to do anything about them other than to listen. Like so many others I turn to this website when I am having a problem with big fish/ big sea games. I trust the problems will be fixed in a timely fashion since I had problems loading prior to the “scheduled maintenance” but didn’t have any yesterday or prior to this. Also noting it has been over an hour since it was said to have gone down so I am guessing they are working on several problems at one time.

Karen: the best part about running a fan site is that I can walk away when I want to. I don’t have to be here every day, day in and day out, and having to be diplomatic amidst all of the problems. I’m not obliged to answer repetitive questions (not that anyone from Big Sea Games has answered the multitude of questions in the forums or on Facebook anyway) unless I want to, either. Of course, the longer I do this the more tolerance I build up to “the crazy”.

I know a lot of people that come here don’t have or want to mess with Facebook (I personally hate the site and use it only out of necessity), so I figure I’ll re-post any valid status updates here too. :)
I am soooo going through withdrawals here. It has been well over a hour. I do not go to facebook so this is my only source. Please Please bring our games back soon before I start pulling out my hair and foaming at the mouth.
Let’s hope they address the loading problems and getting booted out of the games after a few minutes. Both issues seem to be occurring much more frequently. In fact testing on beta prior to the overhaul was a piece of cake compared to this hot mess.
we think we’ve got it bad not being able to play but think of those people who are only able to play for a couple of hours a day and have missed out today – perhaps their 7th day for the “Week at the Knees” award in Riddle and who will have to start it all over again!

Lure, I’m so glad you are here! I don’t do Facebook either, not my style, so grateful I have a place to go to find out what is happening at Big Sea! Is there any news yet? It’s 2:45pm EDT, and I haven’t been able to get in all day, I’m starting to get really upset again! I wish they would have the Big Fish Site up for those that prefer it! I still think it’s the Flash instead of the Java that’s the major cause of the problems. I really don’t care about the new things, they are okay, but would trade them in a minute to get into the games!

Well, nice while it lasted. Played a couple games then it went down again and Felix wearing his hard hat is back. During the short playting time I did get another grey screen though so maybe that wasn’t one of this stablizing maintenance they did. So now we are playing the waiting game again. I’ll be glad when these growing pains are all behind us.
“SIGH” got on after reading from here they were up and running, but not for long folks…… back to not working again…..Thanks Lure for all the news well done on keeping us informed.

I hoped that, after maintenance today, it would be a pleasure to play, BUT nothing changed!!! ‘We’re sorry, there’s a loading problem bla bla bla’ popped up in Team Bingo, Mahjong, and several other games. Especially it bothers me, when I’m booted in Bingo, just before my room gets the TeamBonus! ‘Cause when I hurry to get back in it says: To get TeamBonus you must play from the start! I hate this!!!!!!
A suggestion, (which now it has been done) anytime the site goes down for ANY reason, please just put a maintenance sign up when you click on the website instead of just passing us back and forth and making everyone crazy with thinking it is our computer that is the problem. I was being passed back and forth from bigseagames to bigfish games for 10 minutes. It is sooooooooooo frustrating. It would be so much easier if we just couldn’t get into the site at all until the problems are fixed

the way things are for me and my family right now i use this site to relieve a lot of stress, to take my mind off problems…its getting to be more stressful tryin to play on the site then the stress im tryin to help

I was unable to get into Farm 52 with this ID because of maxed skill levels and full silos until today.
I was able to log in for the hour or so the site was up today. Farm loaded and I played Farm 52! My farm was just as I had left it and I was very happy.
So if you had trouble getting in before because of maxed skills the problem may be fixed. Try again when the site comes back up.
I feel sorry for all the players who had their farms re-set but it does seem that BSG is trying to meet our demands ASAP

itsme07: the forums are on a separate server. I always check both when one or the other goes down, just to see how wide-spread the problem is.
gypsypirate: I hope after the site comes back up that you’ll still be able to get into Farm 52 and play. I haven’t played it for more than a minute or two, I had no problem getting in and playing, I just got bored because I played the crap out of it in beta. Also, it seems slow to me (and I’ve got a pretty hardcore new computer, too). I might just start over, my old Farm 51 farm wasn’t very well designed anyway. :)

Yeah, I was also one who had a fully maxed Farm 51 farm and was unable to play for that first week. And I was also one of the lucky ones who never had it reset so I have all my original farm was in the new Farm 52 when it was finally loading for everyone last night. I played for about seven hours or so. But I know what you mean Lure…it is very sluggish and a bit awkward, even though I, too, have a lickety-split gaming pc which normally has no problem with even the most demading games. I am not sure I really liked the many changes in the game. I do like the new recipes and the wool/cotton/silk fabric & clothing aspect, as well as the IDEA of another game farm on the alien planet, but I really am not so happy with the new very low sales prices you get when selling things out of silos, from newspaper ads and from the alien. Especially since all the new tech costs SOOOOO much! Also, though it seems like a great thing to have the wormhole and not have to do all those rocket launches anymore, I really LIKED the rocket launches and had many friends who would meet on weekends to have big group launches. But the measly amount of fuel you get when trading with the alien makes continually refueling the rocket way less fun and not as do-able. So, while I like some of the improvements, I think I miss the original overall.
6:30 EST, seems to be back up. Farm 52 is loading, slow like usual, but it’s loading. And I’m in. Site’s up!

Are you sure it’s back? I am just getting the Felix in Hardhat screen, even though I have cleared my cache and clicked refresh. It just hung there for ages whenI saw that you posted it as back up, then finally went to that screen. ??? This is getting tiresome. *sigh*

My Farm 51 farm was working fine in Farm 52 yesterday and the day before, I hadn’t played for months but now I’ve had to revert to an older graphics card I am limited to which games I can play and luckily Farm 52 works which is good because I like addictive games and it definitely is. So now it’s not working, will it be up again tomorrow (GMT) or shall I start looking for a new addictive game that works on my old gfx card?
BigSea is like a yo-yo today going up and down. I lost 2 courses in Fairway and was only a few away from the bottom of the list. Think I might wait till the site is more stable. :(

i think it must have something to do with the jackpot spins, earlier i go t a shammrock in riddle and when i clicked spin it froze, site came back up and same thing clicked spin and same thing. not gonna click on shammrocks anymore if site comes back up
I am getting so discouraged … please come back soon and be more stable – I have been a member since 2002 – don’t want to give up!
I wish I had noticed this BEFORE completing this final layout in Mahjong Towers Eternity, because I managed to spend half an hour AFTER it went down, and finally managed to solve the layout – only to notice a distinct lack of bragging text in the chat window.
That’s kind of a problem with the games that rarely communicate with the server: unless people are chatting (which, in my case, they weren’t), you have no way of knowing the server is down.
This is a PAIN, why can’t they just put the old site back and work on the new one and when it’s goof proof, make the switch again!!!

Actually, what’s surprising me at the moment is how active their Facebook person was all day in keeping us posted about the ups and downs. Now, the site’s been down for almost an hour yet there’s not a peep on their Facebook status about it (well, except from unhappy fans, but that’s par for the course in their status comments anyway). It’s still within the hours of a normal business day over there, so the radio silence is a little disheartening.
Okay.. I really don’t like BSG new game “Yo-Yo”… it’s up.. it’s down..it’s up..it’s down… I think they are close to maxing out on their rank for this game. ;-)

blah. The other game finally came back up, but since I have to be up at the butt-crack of dawn tomorrow, I can’t really sit down and play it so I was hoping to play a little at Big Sea, but now THAT’S down again. And I know if I start playing LotR: Third Age, I won’t get to bed on time and thus tick my mom off in the morning when we go for our blood-work.
I spared myself alot of grief by just popping in and out every once in awhile. There’s alot of things that they need to fix, and it isn’t just in the bingo halls at BigSeas.
Farm52 was a no-go for me til just last nite for the first time. Maghan(?) Eternities shrunk the tiles down to where us blind people can hardly see them.
There’s alot of bugs to fix, and I’m sure they know it now. I’m willing to give them the time they need to make it right this time.

OMG This is getting pretty crazy now. I feel like I am playing a guessing game when I go to see if games r up. It feels like BSG will be offline just as much as on. 1 hour huh? 5 hours later guess what………….still not up yet.
OK, so the website is there but none of the games seem to be. Rooms are filing up but is it me or do they all have that error message about another game running and making you click yes or no to close it? I tried nine different games and a few rooms for each one and kept getting this. This is getting so silly now….
Debi: I got that error message, but I clicked whatever option let me close the “other” window and I got in just fine. Maybe shut down your browser, come back and start over, just in case? Can’t hurt.
I think it’s because the connection didn’t close properly when it went down the last time, and that leaves some stale data on the server which makes it think you’re in another game.
I was playing mahjong towers and i was on the the 2nd game when poof . I was threw off the game completely. Still having problems grrr!!!!

I lost a jackpot spin in Solitaire this morning – just froze and received the “are you trying to play two games at once” window, clicked yes to close and lost game. First real problem I have had. Contacted CS with just a note telling where and when. That support ticket said 48 hours.
I find it strange that the link they provide from the info above is on the BigFish site. I don’t know how they are breaking the CS tickets down, but it is a type of misinformation.
I just clicked the sign in link on the help pages provided from your info Lure and that took me to the Faunasphere web site sign in page.

donna: while I appreciate your frustration, I can’t really help you. This web site is not an official Big Fish Games or Big Sea Games web site — it’s a web site run by fans (also known as a “fan site”). If you need to contact Big Fish or Big Sea, I suggest you go to their web site or forum to express your concerns. Commenting here is a nice release, but not effective. Representatives of both Big Fish and Big Sea only visit here intermittently and not to provide support to disgruntled users.
