New Community Portal Changes

by Lure (bigfishgamer_com) on March 9, 2009

So I’ve been talking a little bit in the past months about the upcoming changes to Big Fish Games’ Game Community, specifically the site ‘portal’ that will house all of the upcoming game upgrades and redesigns. The overall design and navigation of the site will change when the redesign is launched, from the home page to profiles (which will include avatars and trophies and scorecards to show your progress).

On your home page, you’ll have a game selection section and a set of tabs on the right side that will allow you to view your profile, friends, scorecard, and trophies at a glance (there will also be featured information to the top and bottom of this section):

Big Fish Games: New Community Games Portal: Games and Scorecard Screenshot

On the profile pages, you’ll be able to create your own profile page complete with an avatar, interests, description, and more. You’ll also have your own shout box, which will act much like Facebook’s wall: people can leave messages for you and you can leave messages for others.

Full Profile: Big Fish Games Community update

You will be able to set and change your avatar to look exactly how you want and dress him/her in different outfits. Right now, there isn’t much to choose from. As soon as there’s more to show, I’ll take some screenshots and write up another post.

Hi Lure
Everything sounds great I can’t wait to start playing. I’m hoping it will be for everyone and not a pay to play. These days it is hard for some people to afford to pay.

tina: I answer the “when” question every time I post about one of the games that’s being upgraded and/or redesigned for the new portal. The answer is: nobody knows, except maybe Big Fish Games, and they haven’t given us any hints yet. I don’t know what will be free or for pay, but I’m assuming it’ll be free and supported by ads, just like the current system.

Wow, wow, WOW! I love the new look and the slick navigation and colorful feel of the redesign! It is absolutely fantastic!! I really like how the games have the big graphic icons rather than simply the title as it has for most games on the list now. And I love the scorecard idea so game playing can be tracked. It will be great when it is launched. I can hardly wait!! Great job keeping us posted with tidbits of BFG Community info Lure! Thanks bunches and be sure to keep the yummy morsels coming. I am getting more and more eager the more you tell us!

Just a quick question…… Is there an end to LOBE ?
I was hoping it would end like Plunder, or other games.
I’ve reached over 1,000,000 total tokens and
still no end.

cedsak – nope no end to lobe – when you get to einstein 9 (after about 54,000,000 tokens on the game) you just stay there adding more tokens to the total

Absolutely love the new look. Exciting. Can’t wait.

Hey, Lure, can you answer a question for me? You have shown redesings for most of the games listed on your screenshot of the new game portal screen. Except, a few that I really like. So I was wondering if you could tell us…are there changes to the other games like Mush, Fairway Solitaire, Madame Libra, and Snowglobes? Thanks Lure!!

Hi Debi, there are no changes — in fact, they look like they were straight ports to the new framework (and the quality of the graphics suffered a little.. they ended up blurry and stretched.. very odd and I don’t know if it’ll be changed or fixed). So, not much to report there.

Hi Lure,

Do you know if we’ll be able to spend our tokens on anything other than Moolah Boolah in the new version? I sure hope so… Thanks!

So I follow Big Fish Games on Twitter, and I got a tweet from them that says “What do you think of our new look and feel?”

Now, I don’t see any changes on either the game community nor the download games section…has anyone seen any changes?

13 Lure March 19, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Phantom: I think they were talking about their twitter background and color-scheme. I’m on twitter too: @bigfishgamer.

Ahhh…thanks Lure…I got all excited that the new stuff was out on BF…what a letdown.

Hi tina: I think it’s still too early. I also have this sense that Big Fish will let us know when the changes are coming, within a few weeks at least, but I could be wrong. From the looks of their development site, I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’ll be at least a few more months. Sorry if any of this got your hopes up.

I think this is great I hope it still is going to be free because if it isnt Im sure that most people are going to leave. There are other sites out there that are free. Would you still be able to pick your favorites? I think that having other things to get with points would be great. Will you be able to change the colors or will you have no option in that? It looks wonderful so far and I love everything I know about the new changes so far. Sorry for so many questions.

are we going to have to pay for bigfish now? Please dont, this is the best site on the internet for us sick, disabled, or normally healthy, people… So many love big fish….

19 Lure May 27, 2009 at 8:51 am

Hi Mandy: I really don’t know, but I doubt Big Fish would make people pay to play. It’ll probably be similar to the way it’s been for a while, where you pay to play ad-free.
